World Class professional learning with PBLWorks
What is PBLSydney online?
In short, ‘#PBLSydney’ is a PBLWorks three Day Institute to be hosted online by PBLWorks and iOTF Events during 6/7/8 October 2020.
PBLWorks Institutes are hosted all over North America and beyond to international acclaim. This in-depth institute will provide a range of three day intensive courses for the PBL novice teacher, through to expert and whole school leadership of Project Based Learning. Bringing together leaders from primary, secondary and tertiary education, industry and government.
Online workshops offered at PBLSydney include:
The Online PBL 101 Workshop supports teachers to design a Gold Standard project, ready to use in the classroom or to adapt for remote learning.
This is our foundational three-day workshop based on our model of Gold Standard PBL. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to implement a rigorous, standards-based project. Throughout the workshop, participants will consider educational equity in their classroom and in their projects. Facilitated online by one of our expert National Faculty, PBL 101 is a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration and feedback. Our PBL 101 models the Project Based Learning process, and our online format models how teachers might facilitate PBL in their own remote classroom. Participants will learn how to set norms, facilitate inquiry, and foster collaborative conversations online, using tech tools like Zoom, Nearpod, and Google Docs. Each participant will leave with a project ready to be implemented in their classroom, and the teaching practices to facilitate high-quality PBL.
Improving the Quality of Student Work: An Overview
Prerequisite: PBL 101
This online workshop deepens skills and knowledge for experienced PBL practitioners in four Gold Standard PBL teaching practices.
In the three-day workshop, participants will investigate and deepen specific teaching practices and strategies that can help to strengthen the quality of student work in a PBL classroom. They will develop and reflect on a high-quality project, and will plan for project implementation in order to improve student products and enhance learning. This PBL 201 Workshop focuses on four teaching practices of Gold Standard PBL: Align to Standards; Scaffold Student Learning: Engage & Coach; and Assess Student Learning.
Leadership Team online Workshop
An Overview
Participants Strongly Invited to Attend in Teams of 3 or More
This workshop is a three-day intensive dive into how school and district leadership teams can support the conditions for Project Based Learning to thrive in their system.
The Online Leadership Workshop is designed to help leaders launch or advance the work of Project Based Learning in their setting. In consideration of their current reality, participants design a customized strategy to implement PBL and foster a project-based mindset for teaching, learning, and leading that moves them forward along the PBLWorks’ Leadership Continuum. Due to the collaborative nature of the workshop, participants are highly encouraged to attend as a team of three or more individuals. Both new and experienced practitioners of PBL are welcome.
